French midfielder can't wait to kick off Rovers career.

Eddy Lecygne is confident he can help his new teammates to victory on Tuesday night against Port Vale.

The exciting French prospect has signed on a 28 day loan from Vale's fierce rivals Stoke City and adds to Rovers’ pool of Premier League youngsters.

“I hope that we’re going to beat Port Vale and I’m pretty confident that we can do that,” said an enthusiastic Lecygne.

“I know we're doing pretty well this season, we’re 12th in the table and I’ve spoken to the manager and I like his ideas and how he plays and his philosophy.

“I’ve heard that he was a good centre midfielder and I’m looking forward to working with him.”

Lecygne has experience of the international scene with his native France but is looking to gain a taste of the Football League, having moved from the Potters.

“The manager rang me on Sunday and said that he wanted me to go for a month on loan and it’s a good chance for me so I accepted straight away and I’m very happy to be here,” he said.

“I like to get on the ball and play but I also like to put my foot in and work hard for the team.

“I’m looking to help the team out and do the best I can to help them. From a personal point, I want to try and get experience and games under my belt so I can go higher up in the future.

“I’ve played for France U19’s last season which was a great experience and I hope to go again this year with the U20’s.”
