Paper Round Up

19 January 2016

A glance at who made the headlines and why over the weekend.

Doncaster Free Press – “And when Cameron Stewart curled home a trademark free kick to halve the deficit with quarter of an hour left, the atmosphere was so positive that you could almost sense what was about to happen next.
Andy Williams coolly slotted in an equaliser and, as the noise reached a crescendo, Rovers could and perhaps should have snatched all three points.”

Yorkshire Post – “A late comeback ordinarily leaves a manager relieved but Darren Ferguson’s over-riding emotion at full-time was disappointment that his Doncaster Rovers side had not taken maximum points off high-flying Gillingham.”

Kent News – “Gillingham threw away a two-goal lead for the second time in 10 days, as they drew away at Doncaster Rovers. Rory Donnelly struck twice to give Justin Edinburgh’s side a commanding lead, first on nine minutes with a fine volley and then at the start of the second half, but the Gills capitulated late on.”

Kent Online – “Williams put a great chance over the bar in the eighth minute of stoppage-time but the Gills hung on to at least claim a point.”

And how we reported it… “Substitute Stewart walked up to the ball and beautifully placed it into the corner of the net giving Rovers some hope.”
