Former Rovers player passes away.
Doncaster Rovers were saddened to learn of the passing of former player John Dowie, aged 60 years old.
Formerly on the books of Rangers as a youngster, Dowie spent four years at Fulham before heading back north of the border to Celtic – where he became good friends with long serving Rovers player Billy Russell.
Dowie, who made his debut in a 2-1 win over Northampton in August 1979, made 25 appearances for Rovers over the subsequent two seasons, scoring two goals.
The thoughts of the Club are with John’s family and friends.
