Twelve teams battled each other and the weather...but there could be only one winner!
Club Doncaster Academy weren’t the only ones celebrating the inaugural 7-a-side knockout tournament at Keepmoat Stadium on Thursday.‘Barcamoaners’ took home the title – after a thrilling 2-1 win in the final – of the competition played on the newly refurbished 3G astroturf pitches.
Twelve teams braved the weather conditions to battle it out and after three hours of competitive football just two teams were left; ‘Barcamoaners’ and ‘The A-Team.’
The latter took the lead early on and the conditions seemed to be getting the better of the players until Daniel White sparked the game into life with an equalizer for eventual winners Barca!
As the game looked set to head to penalties, Daniel Wojciechowski produced a moment of magic to seal the title.
‘Barcamoaners’ team captain Dean Daffin said; “The tournament has been brilliant, all the lads have enjoyed the night here and we will definitely be coming back again. It has been a while since we played at the Keepmoat pitches, to say we have been impressed by the new pitches would be an understatement!”
