Midfielder Richie Wellens has today left the club after having his contract terminated by mutual consent.
The 35 year-old made a total of 199 appearances in all competitions for Rovers, scoring 15 goals over two spells.Initially the midfielder joined the club in July 2007 from Oldham Athletic and helped Rovers win promotion to the Championship via the play-offs in his first full season.
Wellens departed for Leicester City in 2009, before returning to the Keepmoat Stadium four years later following Rovers’ return to the Championship.
The midfielder featured 16 times for Rovers this season.
