New Players, New Pitch!

15 July 2016

Darren Ferguson is not the only one eager to welcome Aitor Karanka’s Middlesbrough to Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday.

As Doncaster Rovers get ready to welcome our 9 new signings to the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday, our new squad will also take to the new;y surfaced Keepmoat Stadium pitch for the first time this season!

Head Groundsman Jim Davison spoke of his delight that the Premier League new boys and Ferguson’s new look side will be the first to grace the revamped main pitch.

“The first game on the pitch since it’s been re-laid will be the exciting Saturday fixture against Middlesbrough,” he said.
“They’ve been promoted to the ‘promised land’ and look like they're spending lots of money!

“With (World Cup Winning goalkeeper) Victor Valdes etc., it means that they’ll have a decent squad for people to see.”

The Keepmoat Stadium main pitch is used up to 60 times per calendar year for various sporting events and this year is no different with the prestigious Rugby League Challenge Cup semi-final between Hull FC and Wigan Warriors due on Friday 29th July.

Therefore Jim and his team have been working tirelessly to provide a playing surface fit for a national TV audience and the rigours of sport week in week out.

You can watch our new boys in action tomorrow for just £10 per adult, with children getting in for FREE (with a paying adult).
