Ryan’s Heart of Gold!

28 July 2016

Phil pledges his ongoing support to BHF.

Phil Ryan is well known to supporters, players and management at Club Doncaster as both an avid fan and also in his role as match day photographer. Phil travels the length and breadth of the country with the Rovers media team capturing the best of the action on camera for the club’s media use.

Phil is also renowned for his support of the club’s designated charities over the years, and last season was no exception. When the club accepted The British Heart Foundation as an Official Charity Partner, Phil immediately pledged his support to fundraising for BHF by way of donating £2 for every League and Cup goal scored during the 2015/16 season.

By putting aside this amount each time Rovers scored, Phil contributed £112 for the 56 League and Cup goals scored by the team (penalty shoot-out goals not included). For the coming season Phil intends to repeat his fundraising in this manner, and is inviting Rovers fans to make a similar pledge in order to support the work of the British Heart Foundation.

“People could pledge whatever they can afford,” said Phil, in hoping to encourage others to fundraise in the same way.

“It may be that someone pledges £2 per goal, others might pledge £1, or youngsters might pledge 20p of their pocket money for every Rovers goal scored.

“Every penny or pound raised will contribute significantly to the wonderful work of the British Heart Foundation. Each person who makes the pledge simply needs to put aside the money in a jar at home each time the Rovers score a goal.

“At the end of the season we will all get together at Keepmoat for a photo shoot, and hand over the money officially to representatives of the British Heart Foundation.”

If you commit yourself to making the pledge please let Phil know by sending an e mail to supporterservices@clubdoncaster.co.uk

This will enable us to arrange for Phil to meet up with you at a match and take your photograph to appear on the club website/match programme (juniors must have parental permission for photograph usage).
