Foundation Friday: Sports Student To Community Coordinator

24 June 2016

Danny Herring appointed NCS Community Coordinator.

Club Doncaster Foundation would like to welcome the newest member of the NCS team, Danny Herring.

Danny first joined the foundation over 3 years ago when he enrolled onto a sports leader’s course as a student. Showing a huge interest to learn and with great potential during his time, he was then offered an apprenticeship which helped him further develop his knowledge of the sports development and coaching industry.

Vice Principal of Club Doncaster Sports College, Joe Burton expressed his delight for Danny’s progression stating: “It’s great to see where Danny came from and how well he is doing now.

“He can be a good role model for young people using the benefits of volunteering to secure long term work.”

Danny continued to show good progress as an apprentice and this led to him being offered a full time coaching role where he would go on to lead sessions on the Schools Programme, Kicks and become a valuable team leader on our National Citizen Service programme (NCS).

Continuing his willingness to learn, Danny opted to enrol himself onto an FA level 2 coaching course which he passed with flying colours.

With Danny’s valuable experience in leading young people, this became vital when he worked with the NCS team during their summer delivery and once again excelled making him an excellent candidate to be involved in the ever growing NCS team.

Therefore, Danny was offered the position of Community Coordinator (NCS) and accepted!

Our thrilled new Coordinator added: “My time as a coach has been an amazing experience working with a great team and building fantastic relationships across schools in Doncaster.

“Hopefully I have demonstrated a clear pathway for up and coming coaches.

“I am extremely looking forward to this next chapter with the NCS team and further developing my career with Club Doncaster Foundation.”

NCS Programme Manager, Jan Budtz noted: “We are very excited to have Danny join our team.

“The skill set he has demonstrated over the last few years along with a great attitude and application in everything he does is the perfect pedigree we are looking for.”
