The moving video is part of the Growing Futures campaign led by Doncaster Children’s Services Trust, partners of the Club Doncaster Foundation and will be shown at matches and on public screens in the Borough.
Phil Hayden, Growing Futures Project Manager, said: “Doncaster has some real challenges around levels of domestic abuse and people very often see it as just an adult issue.
“But children in families where there is domestic abuse really do suffer too; it creates an unsafe and an unhappy environment for them to live in, and this is damaging the emotional development of these youngsters.
“But we believe that life doesn’t have to be like this, we are working in partnership to challenge abusive behaviour, to encourage anyone affected by domestic abuse to get support, and to raise awareness about the damage it is causing.
“The support from Doncaster Rugby League and Doncaster Rovers Belles LFC is helping us spread the vital message that domestic abuse harms children – but there is help out there.”
Carl Hall, CEO of Doncaster Rugby League, said: “We’re passionate about the community we represent, and committed to championing this crucial cause in any way we can.”
Belles midfielder and England U23 international, Kasia Lipka, added: “We hope this video encourages people to get the support they need and we’re delighted to work with the Trust to promote healthy behaviour and respect.”
Players appearing in the video are Connor Scott, Matt Nicholson, Zach Braham, Jordan Howden, Jordie Hedges, and Mason Tonks from Doncaster Rugby League, with Emily Simpkins, Kasia Lipka and Nicola Hobbs from Doncaster Rovers Belles LFC.
