Probably the most iconic Rovers kit in recent memory, Brian Flynn’s side strode out at Griffin Park in this ‘alternative’ green away kit so as not to clash with Brentford’s home strip ahead of a huge promotion encounter.

The visitors only needed a draw to earn an instant return to the second tier, but would be leapfrogged by their opponents if they lost.

A nervy affair seemed to be drawing to a conclusion until Brentford were awarded a penalty in the dying moments of the game. Fulham loanee Marcello Trotta stepped up and smashed his effort against the bar and within 18 seconds, Rovers had scrambled the ball clear to Billy Paynter (above) who squared to James Coppinger to tap home and not only secure promotion for the Yorkshire side but the Championship trophy as well.
