Marosi signs extension

7 June 2016

Young goalkeeper Marko Marosi is thrilled to have signed a one year contract extension.

Doncaster Rovers can today confirm that Marko Marosi has signed a new contract with the club that will see him at the Keepmoat Stadium for another year until at least the end of the 2016/17 season.

Marosi signed for Rovers in 2014 from Wigan Athletic at just 20 years old and has made six appearances for Rovers.

His most memorable appearance came in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy this year when Rovers took on Burton Albion at the Keepmoat.

Having made two excellent saves earlier in the match, it ended a 0-0 draw. Marosi was the hero of the hour in a penalty shootout as he crucially saved Tom Naylor’s spot kick, resulting in a 5-3 victory for Rovers.

“I’m delighted to have signed,” he said.

"I wanted to stay here and the gaffer knew that. He’s given me a chance and hopefully I can now prove to him that I can do something.

“I’ll be coming back after pre-season in good shape and I just want a chance to prove myself to the gaffer and I can’t wait for pre-season to start with the lads.

“My main reasons for wanting to stay here were the gaffer and his philosophy. His playing style suits me and Paul Gerrard has had a huge influence over me since being here. We get along very well and I’ve always enjoyed the type of training that we do.

“The main aim for us this year is promotion with the squad we have."
