Alcock: All Together

4 March 2016

Defender Craig calls for unity from top to bottom ahead of Shrewsbury showdown.

Craig Alcock has said that Doncaster Rovers’ fate lies in their own hands, prior to facing Shrewsbury Town at Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday.

Rovers have beaten all five sides beneath them in the table and still have to play four of those five teams again before the season is out.

“You only have to look at the league table to know where we are in a position like this,” said Alcock.

“It’s just a case if reaffirming it to people in the cold light of day.

“We’ve got to play for everyone around us, so it’s in our own hands so all we can do, especially on Saturday, is go out there and get the three points.”

Alcock, who arrived on a permanent transfer from Sheffield United in January, stressed the importance of repaying the loyal fans with a performance and, crucially, a result.

“Its more important to get that winning feeling back and if anything it’ll get the crowd going again because they’ve stuck with us throughout and we’re grateful to them so now, as players, its time to start repaying a bit of that faith,” he stated.

“We’ve all got to make sure that we’re in it together; if we’re successful then it’s together.

“We need to make sure that we’re successful in the long run by staying in the league first and foremost.

“Everyone can beat everyone as results have often proved so we’ve got to take them with respect and make sure that the eleven players do our jobs and make sure we come out of it on top.”
