Canaries Goalkeeper Joins

24 March 2016

Remi Matthews has joined Rovers and will be with us until the end of the season.

Following the signing of Gary McSheffrey from Scunthorpe United, goalkeeper Remi Matthews has also joined Darren Ferguson’s side from Premier League Norwich City on loan until the end of the season.

Born in Gorleston-On-Sea, Norfolk, 22 year old Matthews began his career with Norwich City Academy at just 10 years old. He has had two loan spells at Burton Albion and has recently signed a new two year contract with Norwich.

Remi will be eligible for selection as Rovers travel to Colchester tomorrow and he stated the importance of the game.

“It’s a massive game for the club and then we’re straight at it again on Monday. They’re two huge games where we need six points.

"I knew straight away I wanted to come here. I wanted to play for Darren Ferguson, he’s a big name in football with a good reputation.

"I can see straight away that he has faith in me, and that’s a great opportunity for me on the field as well as to work along side him."
