Doncaster To Egg on England

16 March 2016

Youngsters get early Easter treat at roadshow.

The Together for England Roadshow rolled into Doncaster, as the Keepmoat Stadium gears up to host the England U20s match against Canada U20s on Sunday 27 March.

A number of lucky schoolchildren from Bentley High Street Primary School in Doncaster joined England U19s and Leeds player, Lewis Cook and U20s Head Coach Keith Downing (above), who is set to take permanent charge of the team for the first time against Canada.

The youngsters were given an early Easter treat ahead of the game, taking part in an egg hunt round the ground, with a lucky number of children finding the prizes that included chocolate eggs and free tickets to the clash on Easter Sunday.

The youngsters were then treated to a Q&A session from the England duo about their experiences playing, and managing their country.

Speaking about the event, England U20s Head Coach, Downing, said: “It’s been great to see the youngsters here today so excited about the match, and with the fixture being on Easter Sunday of course, hopefully many more families will come and enjoy an afternoon out to watch the game. The match itself should be a proper challenge for us against Canada and we’re expecting a really good contest.”

Downing is set to announce his squad for the fixture later this week on TheFA.com.

The Together for England Roadshow is a nationwide drive aimed at inspiring the next generation of Three Lions fans. Through a series of monthly events that utilises England representatives from all levels, the initiative is designed to strengthen the national team’s relationship with local communities.
