PREVIEW: Bantams v DRFC

11 March 2016

Saturday 12th March 2016 (3pm), Sky Bet League One, Valley Parade.

Rovers face another local derby – their fourth in seven games – when they travel to West Yorkshire to face play off chasing Bradford City.

Darren Ferguson will hope that the results in the previous three derbies – all defeats – abates when coming up against the Bantams, who saw off table topping Burton Albion 2-0 on the same night Doncaster were beaten by Scunthorpe and the same margin.

City defeated Rovers in mid October with Ferguson watching on from the stands, a day after taking the managerial vacancy and the club sitting second bottom.

Devante Cole swept home for the Bantams in the first minute to consign Rovers to a 1-0 loss; their first of 7 home defeats of the season.

The South Yorkshire side are now outside the relegation zone with three of the four sides below them still to play.

They will take heart from their last visit to Valley Parade though, where second half goals from Reece Wabara and a Curtis Main screamer emphatically quashed the Bantams lead on the stroke of half time through Jon Stead’s strike.

April 2006 was the last time Rovers were beaten at Valley Parade and the visitors are usually good value for a goal – the one and only goalless draw between the pair in West Yorkshire coming in 1936!

TEAM NEWS: Defender Craig Alcock (calf) is likely to return. James Coppinger (ankle) won’t make the game however.
