PREVIEW: Colchester v DRFC

24 March 2016

Friday 25th March 2016 (3pm), Sky Bet League One, Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Rovers make the long journey to basement side Colchester United on Friday looking to register their first league double of the season.

Darren Ferguson’s side successfully overcame the Essex outfit 2-0 earlier in the season thanks to goals from Conor Grant and Andy Williams and, if they manage to repeat the feat then they will register their sixth straight victory over the U’s.

Time is running out for Kevin Keen’s men who could find themselves 12 points adrift of safety with seven games remaining if results go against them over the weekend.

Recent form for both sides is also a worry with Colchester’s 2-1 win over Bradford City on March 1st the only win for either in their last 26 games combined.

History favours the Yorkshiremen though who’ve won on both their previous trips to the newly built Weston Homes Community Stadium; following United’s departure from the antiquated Layer Road in 2008.

Under the tutelage of Dean Saunders, Rovers eased home 2-1 in the early exchanges of the 12/13 season and were at it again last season when Kyle Bennett’s low drive was enough for a 1-0 win under Paul Dickov.

TEAM NEWS: Luke McCullough (international) will miss the game while loanee midfielders Conor Grant and Lynden Gooch remain out. New Wolves loanee Tommy Rowe will press for a start.
