Darren Ferguson’s Rovers make the short journey along the M18 to face Scunthorpe United in a rearranged fixture at Glanford Park on Tuesday; a venue which has seen Doncaster win on three of their last four outings.Rovers – looking to avoid being the victims of a league double against the Iron – would ease their Sky Bet League One relegations fears with a win as they look to avenge Boxing Day heartache where they lost 1-0 to their visitors.
United, then under the stewardship of Mark Robins, had Paddy Madden’s first half strike to thank for separating the two sides in their 60th meeting in all competitions.
Doncaster significantly hold the historical record though with 24 wins to Scunthorpe’s 16 over the last 50 years.
Both sides are desperate to make their game in hand count – after February’s postponement due to a waterlogged pitch – as the Iron still cling to their slim chances of making the end of season play offs while Rovers are desperate to end their winless run which stretches back to January 2nd and a 3-0 win against Southend United at Roots Hall.
TEAM NEWS: Richard Chaplow could return from suspension, while Paul Keegan should be fit enough – if selected – to face his one time loan club. Nathan Tyson is rated as ‘touch and go’ while James Coppinger will miss out.
