Rowe Ready To Go

23 March 2016

Midfielder praises new arrival and says that Doncaster must now "dig in."

Midfielder Tommy Rowe hailed the arrival of Scunthorpe United attacker Gary McShreffrey on loan as the former Iron pair look to elevate Rovers away from the relegation trap door.

Rowe saw 45 minutes of action on debut against Peterborough United last week and will be joined by the 33 year old in the battle for survival.

“He came in today and I know Gary from when he was at Scunthorpe and he’ll be one of those players who bring experience,” said Rowe.

“He helped me a lot when I was there and hopefully he’ll be the same here, not just for me but for the rest of the team.

“His attributes speak for themselves, he puts ball in to the box, scores great goals and he was a key player for Scunthorpe and I’m sure he can come and be a key player here.

“It’s options which is what we need. Good teams have competition in every area and I think that’s key to getting success.”

Rovers head to basement side Colchester United on Good Friday – just one of four key fixtures against teams around Darren Ferguson’s side – looking to notch their first double of the campaign.

“The results are most important. You can talk about belief all day but we have to get these results,” asserted the 27 year old.

“I do think it will change and we’re now keen to go in to Friday and Monday with two big games.

“Colchester will be a tough game, we’ve worked hard all week as you always go and its going to be a big game but we must get a result.

“I’ve just been here a few days and speaking to the lads it’s a good place in terms of the mentality – which is the most important thing – as results come and go and while we haven’t had those recently, now is the time to dig in.”
