Vote for Super Fan

9 March 2016

In association with Capital One...

Doncaster Rovers have nominated loyal supporter Paul Mayfield as ‘Capital One Supporter of the Year’ and we’d encourage you to vote for him too!

A member of the newly created Rovers Supporters Board, Paul has headed the Supporters Club since 1981, organising thousands of coaches down the years to home and away games and weekends – transporting in the region of 250,000 people to and from games and he insists that no fan has ever missed a match.

Paul’s pinnacle came when Rovers played at Wembley in 2008 where he organised for 3,500 supporters to go to London via coach for the play-off final where he was present at the stadium from 5am and still had the energy to commentate on the famous 1-0 win for local radio.

He even went on the Rovers sponsored trip to Peru to complete the famous ‘Inca Trek’ alongside other players and staff which raised £50,000 for the NSPCC charity.

On matchdays he voluntarily takes it upon himself to provide a unique welcome to members of the press – often dishing out copious amounts of biscuits at half time and posing with his gnome for opposition managers to lighten the rigours of post match press conferences!

A Sunday League referee in his spare time, Paul’s talents are seemingly limitless and he even dons the costume of one of our matchday mascots ‘Erik the Viking’ and has even officiated in some testimonial fixtures during his time.

If you want to vote for Paul and see him lift the trophy this year then nominate them now by visiting http://po.st/SOTY
