Ferguson gets ‘number one’ target

18 May 2016

Manager Darren Ferguson is delighted with signing Tommy Rowe on a three year deal.

Ferguson first signed Rowe as a 19 year old and since then the midfielder has played nearly 200 games under the current Rovers manager.

Darren Ferguson has previously stated his aim of making Rowe a permanent member of the Rovers squad.

“Everyone knows what Tommy can do, we saw it last season,” Ferguson said.

"Signing a player like him is a huge statement of intent to get out of League Two and beyond. We’ve had very positive meetings about what direction we want to take this football club in and on the back of yesterday’s club statement I’ve signed my number one transfer target.

“I felt signing Tommy was pivotal in the way I want this football club to go, he was our number one transfer target and we’ve got him.

“There were a large number of clubs after Tommy but he understood the ambitions of this football club and he is a perfect example of where I want to go.

"The board have backed us as promised and the aim for this football club is to be back in the Championship.”
