2016 DDFA Cup Final

10 May 2016

Houghton Main v Swinton Athletic, The Dawson & Burgess DDFA Challenge Cup Final, Friday 20th May 2016 (7:30pm).

Keepmoat Stadium plays host to the final of the most prestigious cup competition within the boundaries of Doncaster & District Football Association on Friday 20th May 2016 (7:30pm) as Houghton Main face Swinton Athletic in the game that all grass roots clubs wish to be involved in.

The Doncaster and District Football Association (DDFA) was formed in the 1923/1924 season and is charged with fostering the game of Association Football and assisting clubs, leagues, referees and running cup competitions within their stipulated boundaries.

Until 2006 the Challenge Cup final - won then by Askern Welfare - was always played at the now demolished Belle Vue ground attracting a crowd of 3000 to 4000 spectators at the home of Doncaster Rovers.

It is hoped that, with a return to the home of Doncaster Rovers, once more the residents of Doncaster and it’s districts will be encouraged to come and support this prestigious competition.

This season’s final will be an interesting encounter being a local derby between Swinton Athletic who beat Denaby Main 4-1 in their semi-final tie and Houghton Main who overcame their opponents South Elmsall United Services 5-1 at the same stage.

With the usual matchday stadium facilities open for the game and cheap admission to the ground we hope that the general public of Doncaster will come along and show their support again for local grassroots football.

Admission prices on the night:
£4 - Adults
£2 - Concessions
FREE - Children (under 15) accompanied by a paying adult
