Adam Yates visits Club Doncaster Foundation Yorkshire Bank Bike Library.
Ahead of the Tour De Yorkshire, Club Doncaster Foundation were delighted to welcome Great Britain and ORICA-GreenEDGE cyclist Adam Yates to the Keepmoat Stadium to visit our Yorkshire Bank Bike Library.
The bike library at the Keepmoat Stadium is one of 22 Yorkshire Bank Bike Libraries in the region, a joint initiative between Yorkshire Bank and Welcome to Yorkshire that has the clear goal of providing every child in Yorkshire with free access to a bike.
Yates was on hand to help deliver bikes donated by the public to our Yorkshire Bank Bike Library and to see first-hand how the initiative is benefiting the local community of Doncaster.
It’s great that the people of Yorkshire can donate their old bikes so that they can be re-distributed to the public. Hopefully watching the pro’s cycle through Yorkshire will encourage more people to come down to Bike Libraries like the one I’m at today and get involved in cycling. Speaking about his visit to the Club Doncaster Foundation, Yates said: “I think the Yorkshire Bank Bike Libraries is a fantastic idea.
“It was great to meet Adam ahead of the Tour De Yorkshire and tell him about how our Bike Library is helping to get more people cycling in Doncaster. The Foundation’s cycling co-ordinator Andrew Sheldrake added:
Our Bike Library is becoming increasingly popular and it is a great way to keep all of the family, no matter what age, active. “We have a great variety of different bikes available, which people throughout Doncaster can come and hire, absolutely free!
“Here at the Foundation we have the lake a stone throw away from the Keepmoat Stadium and there is no better way to explore around it than on hiring a free bike.”
The cycle hire scheme is open at the Keepmoat Stadium 10am-8pm Monday to Friday, 10am-3pm on Saturday’s and 10am-2pm on Sunday’s.
