The Club Doncaster Foundation have launched a number of new free coaching sessions in the community.
The Club Doncaster Foundation have launched a number of new free coaching sessions in the community. These include three regular sessions open just to girls, with three for boys and girls.
The girls sessions are held on Mondays at Dearne Valley Leisure Centre (5.30-6.30pm, for girls 14+), Tuesdays at Hungerhill School (5-6pm, for girls 11+) and on Fridays at Balby Carr Academy (5.30-6.30pm for girls 11+).
Club Doncaster Foundation’s Women’s and Girls co-ordinator Heather King said: “Our Premier League Girls Football programme was launched following the successful England v France Women’s international held at the Keepmoat Stadium with an attendance of 7,500.
“This helps to highlight Doncaster Rovers and Club Doncaster Foundation’s commitment in increasing participation in girls football.”
There are also regular free sessions for boys and girls aged from eight upwards.
These are held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Bentley New Village primary school (7-8pm), Thursdays at Rossington Community Sports Village (6-7pm) and Fridays at the Keepmoat Stadium (7-9pm).
The sessions at the Keepmoat Stadium have a maximum age of 19, while the ones at Rossington and Bentley are up to 17.
These are part of the Premier League Kicks funding, which is one of the Premier League’s flagship community programmes and is part funded by Sport England.
Kicks co-ordinator Mark Cooper said: “The Premier League Kicks project gives youngsters across Doncaster the opportunity to engage in a variety of constructive sporting activities, coaching, educational activities and personal development sessions.
“Sessions are available and accommodate for young people of all abilities and are inclusive for all.”
