Latics v ROVERS preview

3 November 2016

Saturday 5th November (3pm), FA Cup R1, Boundary Park.

Doncaster Rovers make the familiar journey to face Oldham Athletic on Saturday in the first round of this season’s FA Cup.

Rovers will have faced the Latics in the oldest club competition in the world on no less than four occasions in the last nine seasons, but have only progressed on one occasion.

That was their most recent meeting in this particular competition when defender Timothee Dieng put through his own goal late on in a second round tie at Boundary Park and the visitors met Bristol City in the third round.

The third round is a stage that Rovers are familiar with, having got there in each of the last three seasons.

They will have to provide a mini-upset if they are to overcome the League One club whom Rovers defeated less than a year ago in a league fixture with striker Andy Williams at the double on that occasion.

TEAM NEWS:
Tommy Rowe will be out with an ankle injury but it is not as bad as first feared. Marko Marosi could return after a lay-off, while Craig Alcock could return to the fold.
