ROVERS v Chairboys Preview

27 October 2016

Saturday 29th October 2016 (3pm), Sky Bet League Two, Keepmoat Stadium.

League Two’s top scorers Doncaster Rovers will look to wrap up a positive month’s work with victory over Wycombe Wanderers who are the visitors to Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday.

Despite defeat to Blackpool on Saturday – which included a penalty miss - Rovers still managed to score twice and keep up their impressive record of scoring in every game this season (17 matches and counting…)

Standing in Rovers’ way are Gareth Ainsworth’s Wycombe Wanderers who visit Doncaster for just the second time in their history. The Chairboys, whose only previous appearance in Doncaster yielded a 3-0 victory over the hosts at Belle Vue in March 1994, haven’t been as successful on the road this term and are the only team in the division without an away win.

Consequently, their poor form sees them situated two places above the drop zone in Sky Bet League Two.

The South Yorkshire side will look to register their first ever league goal against the Buckinghmashire outfit but will take some consolation in the fact that managed to achieve that feat twice in a League Cup tie a decade ago. Jonathan Forte opened the scoring just after the hour mark at Adams Park before a swift riposte via a Stefan Oakes penalty.

Even swifter was his departure for a straight red card. The tie went to extra time and Sean O’Driscoll’s men retook the lead through centre back Graeme Lee. Jermaine Easter responded with 116 minutes on the watch before the visitors bowed out on penalties due to the heroics of Portuguese ‘keeper Riccardo Batista.

TEAM NEWS:
Andy Williams is still sidelined while goalkeeper Marko Marosi is touch and go. Craig Alcock and Cedric Evina both have a good chance of making the squad while Frazer Richardson continues his rehabilitation.
