U18's manager says his side must improve if they want to progress in FA Youth Cup on Tuesday.
Paul Stancliffe knows there must be improvement from Rovers’ youth team if they are to progress in the FA Youth Cup.
Stancliffe’s charges were beaten 1-0 by Bradford City on Saturday in a match of few chances, and will be looking to put that behind them when they head to Tranmere Rovers on Tuesday night.
The coach said: “You come out of a game and there are always things that we can touch up or that we need to improve on, and certainly in that one there were quite a few. That’s what we’ll have to work on.
“I don’t think the score had much to do with Bradford’s performance. Obviously they’ve worked hard and they’ve got one or two really good players, but overall it was our own failings with the ball that put us all under pressure and that’s what we’ll need to work on.”
The young Bantams claimed the points with a powerful finish early in the second half at Cantley Park, with an early chance where Will Longbottom was squeezed out the closest Rovers went to a goal.
Stancliffe added: “I thought we started alright. We were quite positive and the passing was good, and we finished quite strong towards the end. But we lost our way a little bit in the second half and never took charge.”
Tuesday’s game against Tranmere Rovers will be played at Prenton Park, kicking off at 7pm. Entrance is £4 for adults and £1 for concessions.
