100 per cent pass rate for college

29 August 2017

Club Doncaster Sports College students are celebrating another incredible year of success with a 100 per cent pass
rate across all their nationally recognised sports qualifications.

A record number of 124 students contributed to an overall pass rate of 96.4 per cent for all Further Education academic courses in 2016/17.

With the introduction of higher education courses this year, taking total learners past 140, and a girls’ gootball academy, the Sports College, based at the Keepmoat Stadium, continues to flourish.

Principal Adi Turnpenny said: “Club Doncaster Sports College continues
to set the standard and is one of the
best places for young people to study sport in the region.

“The results this year are a credit
to the hard work of the students
and the outstanding staff that support them. There is much to look forward to next year as the College continues to expand whilst working hard to maintain the high standards of quality we have
set ourselves in previous years.

“I’d like to wish all graduates the
best of luck in the future and we look forward to welcoming our new students in September.”

In partnership with Selby College, Club Doncaster Sports College departments have achieved 18.7 per cent above the national rate in L2 Diploma in Health and Fitness qualifications and 15.2 per cent above for L3 BTEC diploma in sport qualifications.

All first year L2 students have attained qualified gym instructor status and all second year students have become accredited personal trainers as part of their courses.

Alongside the academic programmes, students represent Doncaster Rovers
and Doncaster Rugby League FC in national college leagues as well as experiencing a host of other sports.

Student Morgan Monaghan achieved D* D* D*, the highest grade which can be achieved at BTEC.

He said: “I’ve really enjoyed studying at the College. I am delighted with my grades which mean I can stay to study the HNC next year and continue playing rugby league at the Dons Academy.”

Unsurprisingly, in learner feedback surveys-, 100 per cent of students said the teaching on their course was good.
