Blair thanks fans

4 August 2017

Matty Blair has thanked Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday fans after a bucket collection raised almost £800 for the hospice who cared for his dying brother.

Matty’s brother Ross spent his final days at Myton Hospice in the Midlands. Rovers fan Anna organised a collection at last week’s friendly after learning about the Ross’ ordeal. Ross is a big Wednesday fan as he and Matty’s father is a former Owls’ player.

The total figure raised from the collection has now been confirmed as £798.88.

Matty said: “There aren’t the words to describe how grateful I feel that fans felt willing to dip into their pockets and donate. I feel truly blessed to be surrounded by such amazing people.”

Club Doncaster chief executive Gavin Baldwin added: “Everyone at Club Doncaster would like to offer our condolences to Matty and his family on the loss of his brother Ross.

“His commitment to Rovers has been exceptional and we want him to know that we will do anything we can to support him at this sad time."
