Changes likely for Grimsby trip

29 August 2017

Rovers manager Darren Ferguson expects to rotate his squad heavily for Tuesday’s Checkatrade Trophy game at Grimsby Town.

Ferguson has won the EFL Trophy as a player and manager, and is using the competition as a chance to give young players a chance to shine.

He said: ”Eight or nine of the players who featured at AFC Wimbledon won’t be playing. It’s a chance to freshen it up a bit as we have eight games in September,

“The likes of Alfie Beestin, Will Longbottom and Issam Ben Khemis will all come in and get some game time.”

Ferguson will tell his young players who come in that if they impress it could be a route into the first-team on a more regular basis.

He added: “I’m looking for a performance to give me a decision to make for Saturday. We will go there and try to get the result.”

Tickets for Rovers' next home game against Peterborough are available from the Club Doncaster Box Office now. You can call in at the Keepmoat Stadium, call us on 01302 762576 or shop round the clock at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
