Houghton seals Rovers return

31 August 2017

Jordan Houghton is raring to go after completing a loan return to Doncaster Rovers.

The 21-year-old midfielder made 36 appearances for Rovers in the 2016/17 promotion-winning campaign, before returning to parent club Chelsea for treatment on a knee injury.

He will now come back to the Keepmoat Stadium on loan until January 3 2018.

He said: “I’m really excited to be back. It has been a long road to recovery, but I have come through it now and feel strong.

“I’ve played a few times for Chelsea’s U23 side and feel very good, I can’t wait to get going.”

Houghton was a regular at Rovers’ games even after his loan, and said the welcome he received from supporters played a big part in him agreeing to return.

He added: “There were other clubs interested, but I felt it was right for everyone really to come back here after so much success last season.

“I really enjoyed it. A lot of fans on social media and at games have been good to me, and I felt I wanted to come back and be part of it again.”
