Ben Whiteman believes having the chance to meet fans ahead of the new season will help to create a close relationship within the club during the 2017/18 campaign.
Whiteman and the rest of the Rovers squad went down to the local market before holding an open training session at the Keepmoat Stadium, and the on-loan midfielder says he enjoyed getting to know the public.
“It’s nice for the local people to come out and meet us, I’ve really enjoyed interacting with the fans over the past few days,” he said.
“I’ve not been here too long so it’s good to meet new people, they’ve taken to me well and been very welcoming.
“We played against some young fans which was exciting for them, doing things like that is always good as it will hopefully make them want to come to the stadium more often.”
