Manager Darren Ferguson has stressed his side are prepared for the task ahead as Rovers face four games in 10 days over the festive period.
Rovers begin the festive period with a trip south to face Bristol Rovers on Saturday, and Ferguson is aware of the test that the weekend’s opponents hold.
“They’re a physical team, they play forward quick, they’re a threat from set pieces and they have a long throw in the locker, and Billy Bodin in particular is a threat so we will consider that but we’ll compete as are expected to do,” he said.
“We will take it a game at a time, they took a heavy defeat last week but they’ve had some good home results and it’s always a very difficult place to go.”
Two home games in three days follow for Rovers, with Northampton Town and Rochdale making a trip to the Keepmoat Stadium, before a New Year’s Day trip to Ferguson’s former side Peterborough United.
“Over this period, you need the results to take you into the new year, you wont look at the performances, the results come so quick and you need a good points total to set you up for the new year,” added Ferguson.
“The results are the most important thing, but I do believe our performances will get us there, we have to keep learning and keep the positivity in the place, and something we haven’t lost is everyone’s belief in each other.
“The fixtures have been good to us, it can be a difficult period for all teams, but we have to get on with it because we need as many points as we can, we haven’t got back to back wins yet, we have to find a way to that and this period is a great opportunity to do so.”
