Rowe hails team-mates

4 December 2017

Tommy Rowe was full of praise for his team-mates as Rovers progressed through to the third round of the Emirates FA Cup after a 3-0 win over Scunthorpe United.

Rowe scored either side of the break to set his side on the way to victory, and he was pleased with the great team performance.

“It was a great victory and I’m delighted with the way the team played, first and foremost I think that was what was required for a game like this,” Rowe said.

“We were playing a physical team and we had to match them, and today we pressed really well from the beginning and got our reward for that.

“The most pleasing thing for me today has been our build-up play, we didn’t let them score, we kicked on and we rode out the pressure, and once that second goal went in and we were dominant.”

Rowe also praised the younger players in the side, with Alfie Beestin shining from the start, and Liam Mandeville sealing the win with the third goal, and he thinks that they will go a long way if they carry on playing how they have been recently.

“Alfie is a very good player and for a long time in training he has been outstanding, and what I’ve seen from him he’s technically brilliant and I’m excited for his development,” he said.

“He can go all the way to the top and games like this can be great for younger players, because it will bring on his match confidence a lot and that will only help him to develop.

“Liam is exactly the same, he’s had a rough spell recently, but he’s scored a couple now and we want to see him pushing John, everyone needs to push each other on and off the pitch.”

Rovers return to the Keepmoat Stadium to face Oldham Athletic on Saturday December 16, you can buy tickets from the Club Doncaster Box Office, on 01302 762576 or at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk
