Darren Ferguson is backing his side to respond well after the defeat at Carlisle United.
After losing to Plymouth Argyle in December Rovers went on a 10 game unbeaten run before the trip to Brunton Park, and face fourth-placed Luton Town at the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday.
Ferguson’s men have not lost back-to-back league games this season, and the boss is expecting a strong reaction.
“The run we’ve been on since the defeat to Plymouth has been outstanding, the reaction when we’ve been beaten this season has generally been very good,” he said.
“Up to now, we have to be delighted with where we’re at, and if we continue that we’ve got a great chance.
“Hopefully it will be a very good footballing match and probably the sort of fixture we need after the Carlisle game.”
Defensive duo Mathieu Baudry and Andy Butler are set to come back into the fold having missed the game with Carlisle through injury and illness respectively. The return of the pair is a big boost for Ferguson.
“They’ve been very consistent, whether we’ve played with three or four at the back, those two have been very important within that backline,” he added.
“We expect them both to come back into the side, it’s a bonus for us as they’ve both been very good.
“Before the last two games we were settled at the back so hopefully with the return of a couple of key players we can get the win against Luton.”
