Darren Ferguson praised the efforts of his staff after being named Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month for January.
Rovers won all five of their league outings in the month, going into February with a seven point gap to second and a 16 point window to fourth place. They did it in style, too, scoring three goals in all but one of their victories.
Ferguson said: “The team has played some very good football and scored three goals in four games during January, so it has been a brilliant month.
"Although it is an individual award, I feel it is recognition for my staff. It is a real team effort, including fans and everyone employed at the club. You can not do more than win five out of five matches.”
George Burley chairs the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel. He said: “It was a fantastic month for Doncaster Rovers having achieved a 100 per cent record winning all five games in January.
“Darren loves his team to play attacking football and they showed this by scoring 13 goals in the month.”
Sky Sports’ EFL pundit Don Goodman said: “The way that Doncaster have stormed to the top of League Two has been made all the more impressive by the style with which Darren has his team playing.”
