Rovers youngsters Reece Fielding and Will Longbottom have signed their first professional contracts with the club.
The pair, who have both been involved with the first team already this season, have agreed two-and-a-half year deals which will see them stay at the Keepmoat Stadium until the end of the 2018/19 campaign.
Defender Fielding believes he can really learn from the more senior players at the club. He said: “I’m over the moon, it’s all I’ve wanted since I started playing football.
“All the lads are great, Andy Butler particularly for me as a defender has really helped me out this year so I can’t ask for any more than that.”
The 18-year-old made his debut against Mansfield Town in the Checkatrade Trophy win earlier on this season, and says there is much more to come from him in red and white.
He said: “I’ve got to work as hard as I can in training, do everything right and prove to the manager that he was right in handing me my contract.”
Forward Longbottom, who has been involved in a number of match day squads this season, was delighted to commit his future to the club.
He said: “I’m really pleased, the manager here isn’t afraid to put young players in the team so I knew if I kept working hard then I had a chance of doing well.”
Having played both as a striker and in the attacking midfield role, Longbottom scored his first senior goal for the club in October in a 2-2 Checkatrade Trophy draw with Derby County at the Keepmoat Stadium.
The teenager added: “It was an unbelievable feeling, not only to play in front of a big crowd for the first time but also to score. All my family were there so I was happy to score for them as well.”
