A brace from John Marquis helped Rovers to victory at Huish Park.

Mathieu Baudry's first goal for the club put Rovers ahead, before Marquis struck either side of the break to seal the victory.

Rovers again lined up with a back three, utilising wing-backs, meaning the returning Liam Mandeville had to settle for a place on the bench after recovering from his thigh problem.

The opening few minutes saw both sides look to attack, with Rovers' best chance coming after a great move which saw the ball switched from the left wing to right and back across - it ended with Andy Williams dropping a shoulder and letting the ball run through to Tommy Rowe - whose powerful shot was deflected into the hands of a grateful Artur Krysiak.

Andy Williams went close against his former club after 19 minutes. He was played in by Rowe, took a touch then tried to chip the ball into the top right corner but did not get enough height on his effort.

Rovers enjoyed plenty of possession as the half moved into the middle period, with the home side dropping back whenever Rovers had the ball.  Alex Lacey got a vital clearance to nick the ball away from John Marquis.

Coppinger rattled an effort against the upright after 24 minutes. Williams led a counter attack down the left, and turned his man inside out before laying the ball off to his captain - whose first-time effort came crashing back off the woodwork.

Rovers took the lead after 31 minutes. Matthew Butcher fouled Marquis, earning himself a yellow card, and the home side were doubly punished.

Conor Grant's dangeorus delivery into the area found centre-back Baudry, who slid the ball home for his first goal for the club.

It was 2-0 four minutes later as Rovers won the ball in the Yeovil half and Coppinger led a three-pronged attack. He had Williams to his left and Marquis to  his right - he chose the latter, and Rovers' top scorer smashed home his 16th of the season.

Rovers looked dangerous, but the only real chances to extend their lead saw Williams chip the ball into the hands of Krysiak after he latched on to Marquis' flick and the latter firing wide after collecting a poor clearance from Krysiak.

Rovers were unchanged for the second half, but Glovers boss Darren Way brought Ben Whitfield on on place of Butcher.

The visitors did have to be alert as Yeovil attacked from the off, with Baudry getting a vital interception to nick the ball off Francois Zoko in the area.

Chances were at a premium at both ends, with some nerves in the home defence as Darren Ward's short back pass to Krysiak was almost intercepted by Marquis.

Krysiak had to be at his best to deny Williams twice in quick succession.

First, Rowe fed Williams, who wriggled away to make space for a shot, which was destined for the top left corner before the Polish keeper intervened to tip the ball over the bar by his fingertips.

A minute later Krsyiak had to be alert to block another effort from Williams after he was fed by Marquis.

Yeovil showed they could not be written off by hitting the woodworkd after 61 minutes. Tom Eaves flicked a header which came back off a post before being gratefully claimed by Ian Lawlor.

Coppinger should have made it 3-0 after 67 minutes when WIlliams found him with a delightful cross from the left. The Rovers captain was free, but fired wide.

He was part of another three-pronged counter after 69 minutes after collecting a ball from Marquis. He fed Williams, who was squeezed out by two defenders as he tried to get a shot away.

Rovers boss Darren Ferguson made a double change with a little over quarter of an hour to go, with Craig Alcock and Harry Middleton coming on.

Middleton found himself right in the thick of the action, curling an effort just wide.

Marquis put the game beyond doubt with a great indivudual effort after 81 minutes. He picked up the ball out on the right close to the half-way line and ran at the home defence. After twisting and turning to find space, he slotted home a right-footed effort.
