Darren Ferguson was impressed with youngster Tyler Walker as he provided another assist in Rovers’ 2-0 win over Tadcaster Albion at the i2i Stadium on Saturday.
Walker’s cross was volleyed home by Gary McSheffrey before Liam Mandeville’s penalty gave the visitors their second pre-season victory, as the side continue their preparations for the upcoming Sky Bet League One season.
“I have been pleased with him, he has improved in the last two games and I have seen a lot of quality from him, he has set up two goals so it is always pleasing,” he said.
“He has got a lot of things to work on but the quality of his two crosses for the two goals have been very good, he needs to get fitter obviously playing in that position, but he has done no harm that’s for sure.
“We got through the game very very well and the fitness is good, another 45 minutes for everyone as well in a game that we knew would be more difficult than the last time out.”
