Ben Whiteman was pleased to make a goal-scoring start to his Rovers career during the 9-0 win over Armthorpe Welfare.
The on-loan Sheffield United midfielder scored Rovers fifth of the evening at Church Street and he says he felt comfortable playing for his new side.
“It was good for me to get used to playing with my new team-mates, we’ve had a few training sessions but getting out on the pitch was good," he said.
“It was nice to get the goal, I took advantage of the condition of the pitch and was just really happy that I could score and help the team.
“I feel comfortable on the ball, hopefully I can get forward and make things happen as that’s the type of player I want to be.”
Whiteman has settled in well since joining Rovers and says the rest of the squad have welcomed him into the group, particularly when they headed across the boarder for a pre-season training camp.
“I’ve loved it so far, the boys have been really welcoming and the trip to Scotland helped me get to know some of the lads more,” he added.
“All the lads have helped me settle in, we’re all looking forward to the season starting now and making it count.
“I’ve felt good so far, we got promoted for a reason and you can see that in training. The standard is really good and hopefully we can have a good season this year.”
