Foundation's Netherlands tour

10 June 2017

Club Doncaster Sports College Academy students have embarked on their third annual European tour as they head to Amsterdam for a long weekend of football.

15 students make the journey to Dover before a ferry to Calais and a long drive to Rotterdam marks their first stop at Feyenoord FC to watch the World Cup Qualifier between Netherlands and Luxembourg.

They then pull their own boots on, with two top fixtures lined up over the weekend against professional set ups FC De Bilt and JSV Nieuwegein.

Academy manager Tim Ryan is excited to see the weekend unfold and says his lads can rise to the challenge.

He said: “The build up to this trip has been great and you could see that the excitement was really kicking in for the last few training sessions before we set off.

“The games out there should be tough ones; we’ve asked our Dutch counterparts to field first teams so it’ll be a real test against two strong teams in FC De Bilt and JSV Nieuwegein and our lads will relish in the challenge.

“Everyone going has been chosen for the way they’ve excelled on the pitch this year representing Club Doncaster, so they all should be proud of themselves.

“It’s an opportunity to really test their talents but also unwind in between games for the site seeing and team building, it’s a great chance to build bonds and friendships that will last a lifetime.”

Places are filling up fast to be part of the college for the 17/18 academic year but with limited places still remaining, you can apply now or express your interest by contacting Club Doncaster Sports College on 01302 764663 /adi.turnpenny@clubdoncasterfoundation.co.uk
