Ben Whiteman believes his attacking style of play can impress Rovers fans after signing a six-month loan from Sky Bet Championship side Sheffield United.
The 21-year-old had an impressive loan spell with Mansfield Town last season, scoring seven league goals, and hopes to carry that form on under Darren Ferguson for the 2017/18 campaign.
“The manager explained to me how he wanted to play next season and I was really interested, playing against his side last season really impressed me,” he said.
“The style that they play is a big reason for me coming here, I want to keep the ball and move quickly which is exactly what this team is all about.
“I’m a box-to-box midfielder, I like to get around the park and hopefully I can add a few goals to the team as well.”
Whiteman is looking forward to hitting the ground running in pre-season training as well as getting to know his new team-mates.
“I need to be playing football on a regular basis, the experience will be key for me so hopefully I can get some games under my belt,” he added.
“I know Craig Alcock and Andy Butler from their time at Sheffield United, so it will be nice to see to see some familiar faces to help me settle in.
“It’s my job now to impress in training and earn my place in the team, I just want to keep progressing and give myself a chance of playing every week.”
