Matty Blair is enjoying every minute of his debut season with Doncaster Rovers, as the club close in on promotion to Sky Bet League One.
The 27-year-old has made the right back position his own this season, and says he’s pleased with the start he has made.
“I’m pretty happy. I would have liked a few more goals as I’ve had a few chances this season but I think generally I’ve been quite consistent in what has been a great season so far,” he said.
“To play most games and have the backing of the coaching staff will make this one of the most memorable seasons I’ve been involved in.
I’ve been versatile this season, I feel as though I’m improving all the time in the right back position so hopefully my performances are showing that.”
Blair is one of a number of players in the Rovers squad to have a promotion on his CV, and believes that could prove to be crucial in the last few games of the season.
“The fixtures we’ve got left are against a number of teams looking to sneak into the play-offs so we’ve got a very tough run of games,” said Blair.
“We’ve got players here who’ve been involved with promotion chasing teams before, and that will help get us over the line this season.
“The more experienced players can advise the younger lads who may not have been involved in anything like this before - that is something which brings us all together.”
