Jones handed professional deal

14 March 2017

Rovers youngster Louis Jones has been handed a professional contract by manager Darren Ferguson.

The goalkeeper, who joined Doncaster Roves in 2011, has put pen to paper on a deal until the summer of 2018.

I am extremely happy to secure my professional contract, it’s not been easy but I am glad that my hard work has paid off,” he said.

“Being part of the first team has been an incredible experience for me, especially working under a professional like Paul Gerrard, who has been a huge factor in my development.

“I am a very ambitious and driven individual, and I can not wait to get started and hopefully get some games under my belt in the future."

Kieran Scarff, the head of Rovers' academy, praised the teenager's attitude.

"Louis has a clear and quiet determination to succeed, and it's great to see him being deservedly rewarded for his efforts and the potential he consistently displays," he said.

"He should be very proud to have achieved this, and we all look forward to his future development."
