Blair is PFA Champion

3 May 2017

Matty Blair has been named PFA Community Champion for 2016/17 after an incredible year of community work across the Doncaster Borough.

The award was introduced by the PFA last year for all clubs in the English Football League as a way of raising awareness of the fantastic work done across communities.

Matty has been recognised for his hours dedicated to player visits within the foundation, schools and community centres.

He said: “Doncaster Rovers are a real family club and a lot of the lads go above and beyond to make a difference, so it’s fantastic to be recognised.

“It’s a proud feeling for me to be presented with it but mainly I just hope I am impacting the lives of people in Doncaster.”

Matty has embraced the challenge of being a role model for the people of Doncaster, inspiring the next generation on regular player visits.

Head of community John Davis added: “Matty’s support has been invaluable to the foundation; his efforts have allowed us to facilitate Q&A sessions and player visits to the participants across the foundation.

“This accolade is a true reward for his efforts in engaging with the community.”
