Butler post Pools

8 May 2017

Club captain Andy Butler is looking forward to testing himself again in Sky Bet League One next season.

Rovers have sealed promotion straight back to the third tier, and the centre-back is expecting manager Darren Ferguson to build a team ready to compete in the higher division.

He said: “The  gaffer is always trying to improve the team, so it is a big summer ahead for us and another one I am looking forward to.

“We have been promoted at the first time of asking and that is not easy, it is a big summer now for us and we will kick on again next season.”

A fantastic 976 Rovers fans made the journey to Victoria Park and were in full voice throughout Rovers’ final game of the gampaign, and Butler has been impressed with the away following this season.

He added: “The fans have been brilliant this year, I think it has been one of the best away followings that I’ve seen, so hats off to them for supporting us wherever we have been.

“I know it has been tough for them, with lot of southern teams, but they have backed us all the way and the players really appreciate what they have done for us.

“I am disappointed that we have not bought the title back for them, but we have tried and I would like to say a massive thank you to them, for all their support this season.”
