Baudry enjoying defensive strength

21 November 2017

Mathieu Baudry has enjoyed being Rovers’ lucky charm since returning to the side midway through October.

The Frenchman missed the start of the season through injury, and has tasted defeat just once in seven games in all competitions after settling back into Darren Ferguson’s defensive unit.

He said: “We’ve changed shape recently and looked solid, the next step for us would be to improve going forward and try and score more goals.

“Being strong defensively is a good platform to build from, it’s new for me playing on the left as well as I’ve had to change the way I do things.

“I think we’re settled as a team and at this level you can see the finer details need to be right throughout games and you need to take the chances when they come.”

Rovers’ next test in Sky Bet League One is a trip to second placed Wigan Athletic, and Baudry is looking forward to going up against Paul Cook’s side.

He added: “Playing against a team who wants to play football will suit us, we believe in ourselves that if we stick to our game plan then we will come away with a positive result.

“We’ve had a couple of close games recently where there hasn’t been a lot in it so it’s always going to come down to who is better in front of goal.

“Anyone can beat anyone in this league, a few teams have struggled for consistency so far so it’s down to us to concentrate for the whole game.”

Rovers return to the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday November 25 to face MK Dons, get your tickets now from the Club Doncaster Box Office, on 01302 762576 or at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
