Beestin full of confidence

28 November 2017

Alfie Beestin believes he is ready to take his chance in the Rovers starting XI ahead of the Checkatrade Trophy tie against Rochdale on Tuesday.

Beestin has played in two of the three games in the competition so far and is in a confident mood after his impressive display against MK Dons last weekend.

“I feel like I’ve been ready for a while now but there are some great players in my position so I’ve had to stay patient and take my chances when they come,” he said.

“We didn’t have the best of performances in the first half against MK Dons so to come on and make in impact was great for my confidence.

“I’ve had a few people messaging me saying well done which is great but that’s gone now and I have to keep working hard to keep improving.”

The 20-year-old is a fan of the Checkatrade Trophy and says it provides a chance for other young players to show manager Darren Ferguson what they can do.

“It might not be for everyone but I really enjoy it and like to see some of the young lads getting a chance, it gives them an opportunity to come up against good players,” he added.

“It has developed me a lot personally especially because I got my first goal in this competition last season, we want to progress as far as we can.

“We’ll have a team out there who are capable of winning the game and we’re going there full of confidence after the win on Saturday.”
