Matty Blair revealed he went through a full range of emotions after his winning strike sealed a 2-1 victory over MK Dons at the Keepmoat Stadium.
The winger scored his first goal in almost a year to secure all three points for Rovers.
“I haven’t had that feeling for a while, its been almost a year since my last goal, a mascot told me that before the game too, but I felt everything, excitement, happiness, and then I got pretty emotional as well,” he said.
“I felt everything and nothing scoring the goal, I just knew in my head, get your touch right and then hit it, all that was going through my head just to get it on target and it went in.
“I feel pretty good, it was a long-awaited goal and one that I needed, I’m absolutely thrilled to bits, but more importantly we’ve got the three points and that’s the main thing.”
Blair stepped off the bench to score the deciding goal, and was grateful to Darren Ferguson for putting him on in midfield to try and change the game.
“I’ve been playing defensively in the past few games, but when the gaffer threw me on into midfield I just wanted to go out there and enjoy myself and get the winner and I’ve done just that, so I’m delighted,” he said.
“They scored early on which shook everyone, but we’re a confident bunch that will always try and play the right way, we dominated the second half and we’ve gone on and got the three points.
“Take out the Wigan game and we’re in great form, and we are back to winning ways, we have two games now before the next league game, but we are well on our way.”
