Darren Ferguson was pleased with the character shown by his side as they came from behind to beat MK Dons 2-1 at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Chuks Aneke’s third minute opener put Rovers behind at the break, but second half goals from John Marquis and Matty Blair completed the turnaround.
Ferguson said: “It’s a great three points for us and I saw a big reaction from what happened against Wigan.
“We had to show a lot of determination to come from behind, I was quite calm at half-time because I wanted to encourage them rather than criticising the team.
“In this league you just have to keep going and full credit to the players as they gave everything to get us the win.”
Half-time substitute Alfie Beestin made an immediate impact with assists for both Rovers goals, and the manager has been impressed with the 20-year-old’s development this season.
“Alfie has shown what a good player he is, he has worked hard in the gym to improve physically and that’s given him a lot of belief,” he added.
“He gives you something different at the top end of the pitch, he’s got good balance and I really like him as a player.
“He came on and played very well, he played a key part in both goals and has now put himself in the frame be involved more often.”
