Ferguson relishing Rotherham test

9 November 2017

Darren Ferguson says his players are fully aware of the importance of this weekend’s South Yorkshire derby against Rotherham United at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The meeting will be the first between the two teams in over 10 years, and the manager is looking forward to the occasion.

Ferguson said: “It’s been a while since the last game between the two clubs, it’ll be what a derby should be about with a good atmosphere and a big crowd.

“I want my players to be aggressive and take control of the game but within that they have to maintain their composure throughout.

“I’m really looking forward to it, the players have got to be up for it as the crowd will be up from the first minute, it’s always one of the first fixtures that everybody looks out for.”

With just one defeat in their past five games in all competitions, Ferguson has been impressed with the balance of his Rovers side in recent weeks.

“It’s been a while since our last league game but we’ve had a couple of good performances in the cup competitions to keep momentum going,” he added.

“We’ve got a good balance in the team at present, we’ve had to wait a while after the injury to Danny Andrew but we’ve looked settled in the past few weeks.

“We can play different formations depending on how the game goes, the way we want to play doesn’t change we will always go out to win the game.”

Please be advised that tickets for this weekend’s game against Rotherham United must be purchased in advance as no cash gates will be available on the day. Tickets can be bought from the Club Doncaster Box Office, on 01302 762576 or at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk
